2009 Hatch Dates
Birds entered in the meat classes (roasters, fryers, meat pens and turkeys)
must meet the following hatching guidelines to exhibit:

Turkeys - Must be between the ages of 14 and 18 weeks
of age by day of show. Hatching dates must be between March 9 and April 6 of
the current year.
Meat Pens and Single Roasters - Meat pens and
roasters must not exceed 9 weeks of age on show day of the fair. Meat pens
and roasters can be hatched no earlier than May 10, current year.
Single Fryers - Fryers must not exceed 7 weeks of age
as of show day. Fryers can be hatched no earlier than May 24
of the current year.
|
* When you order, you need to figure out around what day
you want the hatch date to be. Most hatcheries only hatch 1-2
days per week. They will mail the day old chicks in a box to
the post office. The post office is supposed to call right when
they receive the chicks. But there are usually issues with the
Wilmington post
office, so call very early in the morning of the
day you are to receive them. If you have any questions, contact
Leslee Johnson.
|
** All members exhibiting meat pens,
single roasters, single fryers, and meat turkeys must show hatchery papers
at Skill-a-thon and/or weigh-in.
